Although our busy libraries may not be the best place to carry on a Skype conversation, our iMac's are great computers for that purpose. I've had a couple of patrons ask about poor sound quality while "Skyping".
There's not much we can do about background noise, and I don't think we'll be providing headsets with built-in microphones any time soon. Internet traffic and congestion can hamper call quality. And wireless connections are often slower than wired ones, so you might suggest that your patron move from his laptop to one of our wired patron PC's, or give her an ethernet cable to use while Skyping.
