Geotagging

Pictures taken with smartphones are automatically embedded with geographic location (latitude and longitude).  Keep this in mind next time you are posting a picture on Facebook, Craigslist or any other website.  Anyone viewing this photo can get your location and use this information.  There have been instances of thieves using this information to rob valuable items posted on Craigslist.  Most digital cameras do not automatically add this information.  You can disable the geotagging by going into your settings and disabling this feature on your phone.  For more information, here is a link to a New York Times article about Geotagging NY Times Geotagging Article .  Visit the website I Can Stalk U for information about disabling geotagging icanstalku geotagging.
