Other options than Consumer Reports
I found when helping patrons look for large items like furnaces, windows, etc., Consumer Reports is not helpful and very outdated. I suggest to them that we go into ASK and put 'compare furnaces' or 'compare windows in Denver, CO'. I often get many websites that compare large items for them that is very recent. They are happy and want to go to a computer to look at all the websites themselves.

ReplyDeleteJust be aware of who is sponsoring the web site: if it's a furnace manufacturer, it might not be very objective about competitors' furnaces. Otherwise, there are some helpful comparison sites.
ReplyDeleteA patron was looking for information on turkey fryers and Consumer Reports didn't give any good comparisons. I thought of this site which gave her comments from consumers as well as cost comparisons and places to purchase the one she chose. Thanks
